Inglenook fireplaces are generally associated with older properties, particularly in farmhouse style kitchens. An Inglenook Fireplace is often misunderstood, being a partly closed space by a large open fire so that you can sit close to the fire. Most people, when they refer to an Inglenook actually mean a chamber which is most commonly associated with wood burners, multifuel stoves or indeed gas or electric stoves. These chambers can be finished in a variety of ways and are usually accompanied by a wooden beam or stone surround.
